Delhi : The two-match Test series between India and Bangladesh is starting from 19 September. Before the first Test match, Indian captain Rohit Sharma held a press conference in which he discussed the importance of this series. The Indian captain said that every match has its own importance and the specialty of this series is that it is also important for the World Test Championship.
Every match needs to be won
In the press conference, Rohit Sharma said, “Every match is important while playing for the country. This series is not a practice for the upcoming series against Australia. We have to collect important points for the World Test Championship. Therefore, it is very important to start this series at a high level.” Apart from this, regarding the rotation of bowlers, the Indian captain said, “We will rotate the bowlers and take care of this. You want your best player to play every match, but this is not always possible.”
It’s a little difficult to come back after a long time
Talking about returning to cricket after 4 to 6 weeks, Rohit Sharma said, “When you don’t play any format for 6-8 months, it is nothing new. We have taken a break of 4-6 weeks before as well. So, our camp was held in Chennai. It can be challenging, but the boys have handled it well. The players who haven’t played much Test cricket have played the Duleep Trophy. In this sense, we are fully prepared in terms of preparation.”
He said this about the middle order
Talking about the middle order, Rohit Sharma said, “Some things are very clear. When we select the playing eleven, we look at the performance of the last few years and decide which player is contributing the most. We discuss about a player and decide what will be best.”
The youth have to be prepared
While discussing the young players, the Indian captain said, “We have to prepare Jaiswal, Sarfaraz and Dhruv Jurel. Jaiswal has performed brilliantly in difficult situations. Sarfaraz also played fearlessly, and Jurel also performed the same.”
