Delhi : Punjab Kings have taken an important decision ahead of the Indian Premier League 2025. According to media reports, Ricky Ponting has been appointed as the new head coach of Punjab Kings. Ponting was earlier the coach of Delhi Capitals and after parting ways with Delhi recently, he had said that he wanted to remain in the IPL. Now, as per his wish, Preity Zinta’s team has signed him.
He was the coach of Delhi for 7 years
Ricky Ponting has been a great player and captain, and he has been the head coach of Delhi Capitals for the last seven years. Although the Delhi team could not become the champion under his coaching, it managed to reach the final in IPL 2020. Interestingly, Mumbai Indians won the IPL title in 2015 under Ponting’s coaching. Ponting has a long experience in IPL, which is going in his favor, and this is the reason why Punjab Kings have made him the coach.

Recently, Ricky Ponting took over as the head coach of the Washington Freedom team in Major League Cricket, where the team won the title under his leadership. The team was captained by Steve Smith, and also included players like Maxwell and Head. Now, Preity Zinta and her team would like Ponting to create the same magic with Punjab Kings. It is worth noting that Punjab Kings have not won the IPL yet, and Ponting has the talent to give them their first title.
