Delhi : Ravichandran Ashwin is one of India’s premier spinners and his statistics are a testament to how much of an impact he has on the game. Ashwin is the second-highest wicket-taker for India in international cricket, and is currently among the top Test bowlers in the world. However, there is one record Ashwin would like to achieve that is not related to bowling.
I want to hit 6 sixes in an over – Ashwin
Ahead of the first Test match between India and Bangladesh in Chennai on Thursday, Ashwin revealed that he wanted to hit six sixes in an over, but joked that he never managed to do so. Speaking on Vimal Kumar’s YouTube channel, Ashwin said, “I want to hit 6 sixes in an over, but it never happened.”
Ashwin also talked about his retirement plan. He said that when he feels that he cannot perform better than his potential, then he will say goodbye to cricket. Ashwin made his Test debut against West Indies in 2011 and has so far taken 516 wickets in 100 Test matches and 189 innings at an economy rate of 2.81.
There is no plan for retirement
Ashwin, who is part of India’s Test squad against Bangladesh, said he has no concrete plans in mind about his retirement. The 37-year-old said he takes one day at a time and will quit the game when he feels he can’t improve. “I have no thoughts of retirement in my mind. As you grow older, you have to put in extra effort every day. I have worked really hard in the last 3-4 years,” Ashwin said. “I haven’t decided to retire yet, but the day I feel I can’t improve anymore, I will quit the game. That’s all I can say.”
